This is real African black soap. It is brown, a bit gritty, soft, and lathers super creamy. It is not jet black, smooth, and hard like commercial soaps.I have only used this particular product a few times but already in love. It cleanses nicely without feeling stripped. There’s a bit of moisturizing from the cocoa/Shea butter.The scent is a bit reminiscent of raw shea butter - hay like but it’s not offensive, and does not linger on the skin. It’s expected based on the ingredients, and I’m actually really happy there is no added fragrance (allergies).My sensitive skin has loved this soap. The lather with a washcloth/loofah feels luxurious.I bought this product for mom who developed extremely dark skin pigmentation on her face from her medication. She says that it has both softened and lightened up her skin and she loves it. It will definitely dry out your skin so I recommend you to do your facial cleansing sat night and pair it with a light weight moisturizer to wake up with a nice glow the next morning.This is not a Review to bash all African Black Soaps. Im only giving my opinion of “Raw African Black Soap”.This is one Black Man’s Opinion.Getting straight into it.I use Dudu Osun as the black soap of choice.I swear by it due to the thorough clense I get on my face and body. I decided to switch it up and try the “Raw African Black Soap”.The first couple of days of using this soap was pretty good. It produced a nice lather on my rag, and I did not get that burning sensation that most black soaps give on my skin.However, I did not feel as clean as with the Dudu Osun. After the third day of use, something weird happened. I washed with the rag and felt it cut my skin. This was probably due to the plantain or hard ash breaking off into the rag.Immediately, skin irritation erupted . I felt the hairs on the right side of my stomach raise in disbelief. After letting the water and steam hit on my skin for a moment , irritation reduced and my skin returned to is normal state.I decided to stop using this black soap because of its abrasiveness. Everything RAW is not always a good thing.I appreciate the fact that it did make my skin feel soft and did not notice the burning sensation, but the plantain cuts like glass and I can’t have that.Dudu Osun is a main stay forever.It smells greatit cleans thoroughlyIts not abrasiveIt keeps my skin soft with its added ingredientsAlso the “lime +lemon” has anti bacterial properties wherethe “Raw African Black Soap” does not.Side Note: The burning sensation that everyone cries about is normal in most Black Soaps. If your not use to it, give it 5 secs and wash off. Your skin will have to build a tolerance for it.I decided to try this after reading the reviews. I found myself in my 30s with terrible skin and constant breakouts. This stuff completely did the trick. I have been using it for a few years now, and I have been breakout free since. My tween daughter had acne show up very quickly, and this has helped her get it under control.This soap is the only thing that helped with my back acne and scars. I had this problem for years, I got it as a teenager. I went to dermatologist, I used many many products, I just never wanted to take hormonal or antibiotic therapy. Acne on my back were so inflamed and deep that it would leave brown scars. I was so insecure, I thought I would never wear open back dress.This soap not only cleared my back acne but it also cleared brown marks and scars. I couldn’t believe it. I found out about it by accident, just searching for stuff and thought why not, I already tried so many other things.It is little drying but I don’t mind on my body. I never used it on my face though, because I have no need, but I think it’s too drying for face. It lasts forever, it’s messy but it’s sooo worth it.During pregnancy I noticed few pimples on my back, I used it few times and it was gone, never came back.I really really recommend!This is not payed review, no body asked me to write it and I never leave any review… I just hope this helps someone to fix their problem :)This soap was okay. I had high hopes and expectations being that everyone raves about African black soap, this had a lot of reviews and judging by the ingredients, it seem the soap would be wow. But unfortunately it was not. It doesn’t lather easily do you have to use bigger amounts of the soap, which makes it not last long. I thought with this product being 1lb, it’d last me a few months. I don’t know if I made it to 2.5 months, definitely not 3 before running out. Another con is that it is very stripping and doesn’t rinse off clean. I feel a film on my skin when I use it and when I dry my body, my skin feels very rough and stripped of its moisture, which was shocking being that the soap claims to contains a heavy content of natural oils. I attempted to use it on my face and was further confirmed of the harshness of this soap because it broke me out badly, not purging, straight breakouts from irritation and I have a high tolerance of products. I’ve tried a new brand soap and the soap is the opposite of this one —moisturizing, nice lathers, raw and natural etc. So I know it must be something in this soap that my skin could not handle.I bought this because I had heard a lot about this on tik tok honestly. I don’t have any acne but I do have small non noticeable bumps on my forehead and my skin has been kinda dull lately. Tried this for two days and my skin is glowing. DO NOT PUT THE ACTUAL BAR ON YOUR FACE. The bar is rough and will not be kind to it, and make sure to moisturize after!! I’m half black so this worked great for me, but if you have sensitive skin I’m not so sure.This product is simply amazing- I can't rave about it enough. I've finally found something that works for hyperpigmentation and acne on dark, African skin (been suffering and researching solutions for 15 years!) It's going to take time of course- I'd say at least 6 months in my case- but I can already see changes in my first week. And the product is such good quality you only need a little each time- it's going to last aaageeesss!! Only drawbacks were: being in Australia, I had to pay the, "Oh you're not in the US? Wham!! Here's a massive price hike for you!" price. There also seemed to be an error with delivery, whereby I never got my initial pick up slip, but only the reminder. Meaning I avoided my hard-earned and long-awaited product being sent back just by the skin of my teeth! Oh yes and also that it took a long time to get here. I've ordered from other US-shipping sites like Fishpond, and their products arrive in max 2 weeks...? So I'd like to hear from Amazon on that one. As far as product goes, though, excellent.I was so excited about this soap, I’ve read countless reviews raving about how revolutionary this was for acne prone skin! Seeing all the natural ingredients made me hopeful for a organic product that didn’t have chemical ingredients I couldn’t even pronounce.I applied it twice a day, and used a gentle hydrating moisturiser with tea tree oil for spot treatment breakouts. It never burned or irritated my skin however, my acne worsened each day I used it. Cystic pimples would appear from under my skin in so many places, small pimples would become inflamed and clogged pores became flesh coloured nodules. I brushed it off thinking it was due to my skin purging and the soap bringing out all the impurities. Hopeful for the purging period to only last a couple weeks - over a month later, my condition never saw any hopes of getting better. I’m so disappointed that this didn’t work for me, my skin wasn’t even that bad before I started using this. I only suffered from a few small breakouts daily and sometimes some cystic ones around the time of my period. But I wanted to find a solution to give me the crystal clear complexion I’d always wanted. This ABS certainly wasn’t my knight in shining armour.
